Blue Reef Aquarium
Attraction, Southsea
Blue Reef Aquarium opened in 2000 on Southsea seafront and displays marine and freshwater species from around the world. The centrepiece is an underwater tunnel through a large tank housing sharks, rays, and tropical fish. Other exhibits include seahorses, jellyfish, otters, and a rockpool touch tank for children. The aquarium runs educational programmes and conservation projects, including seahorse breeding. It is one of Southsea's most popular family attractions, particularly during school holidays and wet weather. The building sits on the esplanade near the Rock Gardens and Southsea Castle.
