Highland Road
Street guide, Southsea
Highland Road runs north from Albert Road towards Fratton, forming one of Southsea's main arterial routes. The road has a parade of local shops, takeaways, a post office, and several pubs, serving the dense grid of Victorian terraces that surround it. This is one of the more affordable parts of Southsea, popular with students and young professionals. Highland Road Cemetery, a large Victorian burial ground with mature trees, provides unexpected green space in an otherwise densely built-up area. The street is well positioned between Albert Road to the south and Fratton station to the north.
