Villiers Road runs north from Albert Road towards Fratton Road, crossing through the heart of Southsea's residential streets. The road is predominantly lined with Victorian terraces, most divided into flats. A few small shops and a pub sit near the Albert Road junction. Villiers Road marks the approximate boundary between the Palmerston Road precinct area to the west and the Albert Road quarter to the east. The street is busy with through traffic during the day but quietens in the evenings. Several of the parallel streets, including Lawrence Road and Waverley Road, have a similar character.
